Warm your wallet with a rapid masonry extension
These days, heat efficiency is a must for a new extension. Government guidelines aside (which demand certain levels of heat efficiency and insulation from all new builds and building materials). A rapid masonry extension can deliver huge per annum savings on heating bills thanks to its superior insulation and outstanding seals. The majority of air and water ingress in building comes through old fashioned masonry joints, which are wide enough to risk easier damage and loss of seal. Rapid masonry extensions use a completely new type of masonry join – it’s much thinner, so there is far less danger of air and water getting through. For more information take a look at www.london-builders-pro.co.uk – we’ll be happy to answer your questions, or take a look at your property and advise yo if it is right for a rapid masonry extension.
Don’t let the cost of your home extension keep on growing after it’s finished. Put a cap on those heating bills with a modern rapid masonry extension.

How to match an extension roof to an existing roof.
A house extension is a great way to maximise the space and value of your property, without actually having to move, to uproot your family or spend out all that money just when you’ve started to get comfortable. Extending a home can really make it feel like your perfect environment: and can put a few extra zeroes onto the resale figure when you do choose to move on. Provided, that is, that the extension is done right in the first place. If you’re extending under Permitted Development, or you just want to make sure that the additional parts of your home are as appealing to possible future buyers as the existing bits, you need to make sure that your house extension matches your home. And that means matching the extension roof to the existing one.
The most obvious part of roof matching is getting the tiles and slates right. That’s not as easy as you might think. Tiles and slates weather together – so when you go to add a new roof area you find the contrast is immediately visible. The best way to blend the two shades is to take existing roof tiles from areas of the roof that aren’t seen from the street or garden, and use them to tile the front edges of the new roof. You can put lookalike tiles in the spots where you’ve stripped older tiles out, and blend areas of old and new in the middle parts of the roof so the whole thing looks uniform. Check out London Builders Pro for some excellent examples of this.
You’ll also need to match the existing roof batten: this ensures an equal level for the new roof and the old. Whatever lead flashing, fascia and soffit is found on the original needs to be run through the new roofed area too: you’ll find that carrying on all three gives an instant feeling of uniformity to the whole extension. Make sure your roof insulation carries the job on from the existing roof: and be doubly careful to check that it complies with new building regulations, which require waterproof and breathable insulation to be installed in all new roofing.

Make the most of both sides with a wrap around extension
Some properties benefit greatly from a wrap around extension – a way of building extra space into the existing home on more sides than one. Typically a wrap around extension occupies the back aspect of the property, and wraps around to extend one side of the building as well. Done well, a wrap around extension can make a wonderful profile for the house, and have the extra advantage of really opening out the inside of the home so you get the extension you really need. For examples and information check out our site: www.london-builders-pro.co.uk.
A wrap around extension will usually work best as a single storey extension – preserving the natural light of higher floors but giving huge quantities of extra space at ground level. You’ll find the exterior of the house is far more pleasing this way, particularly if you give a pitch to the roof of the extension. Use your wrap around extension to completely reconfigure your downstairs living areas: with this much extra space you can have whatever you want, wherever you want.
